Ohhhhh. Oh, sport makes a little bit more sense. Still, that sounds less exciting than jousting. Not that I really like jousting, either, I am not a fan of violence.
[anyways.]
Yeah! It's kind of exciting, don't you think? What kind of place are you from?
[ now i see why eli has brought this good boy here. ]
Huh. Guess I’m kinda used to it where I’m from.
Y’know I’m starting to wonder myself. Seems like Zemuria’s more tech advanced than a lot of places, but not in the ways other people with better tech understand. And then we have some weird as hell gaps in our tech advancement I can only put down to my home being really dang focused on military warfare.
Multiverse. Who'd have thought. Even some of the tech I know either doesn't exist in some places or has different names, and that's confusing enough for me. You're not experiencing like... an information overload or something?
Then - I guess I would do something bigger than just saying it's wrong.
[easier said than done, but.]
Oh, no, it's definitely overwhelming, ha. But - it's really exciting, too. I mean, not that I'm happy about being here, but imagine you woke up in a new world with a bunch of technology you'd never even dreamed of. You'd be kind of excited, right?
I mean, I'm also not the biggest fan of violence, but - I think I could understand the temptation in that kind of situation.
[he has to think about that for a long moment. anyways, time to be a nerd and sound really excited.]
Well - the phones are fascinating. I mean, the idea that you can talk to anyone, anywhere, without having to wait weeks or months for a letter... But the lights are so convenient, too, and - uh, not to be gross, but the bathrooms. So much nicer. I really don't think I can pick.
I’d say violence is never the answer, but unfortunately usually it is. Or it gets forced to be.
[ …. oh well, happier things. ]
Bathrooms are excellent, even if some people here don’t seem to agree. Or want to use them. [ DIMITRI. ] Although I kinda wonder if they have hot springs anywhere on campus. That is an experience if you’ve never been in one before. Like, 10/10 excellent experience.

Nooo, I mean like professional swimmers. If a fisherman’s crawling in the lake, they’ve probably done something wrong?

[tilting his head]
We must come from pretty different places.
no subject
[ hmm. ]
Don't we all though? Or that's what I'm picking up from talking to everyone.

[ ANYWAY. ]
You?
no subject
he's immediately frowning!]
Your home is really focused on warfare...?
[bad]
We don't have anything like this where I'm from. A lot of this stuff is new to me.
no subject
Yeaaah. It’s an empire that’s still really into the part where it annexes smaller independent states in the name of growth.
[ he doesn’t sound super hyped by it. ]
A lot? Like…. let me guess, the phones were new.
no subject
[the frown remains as he says that, but it clears a bit as he continues.]
Yeah. The phones, the lights, the screens in the lounge we have in the dorm... Pretty much everything to do with technology?
no subject
[ good god ]
Wait even the lights? What do you use for lights then?
no subject
[anyways.]
Uh - lanterns? Torches, in emergencies...?
no subject
[ just asking. ]
…
…
…. Man that’s so old school. Lanterns… you see that used for like, candlelit dinners and romantic shit, but not for everyday everything anymore.
no subject
[he gives a small laugh at that next part]
Yeah. I'm learning pretty quickly that I've never seen a lot of things that most people think are commonplace.

[ pffffff annexation. ]

[ hoo boy is it ever. ]
Excited, and maybe a little weirded out, I guess? What have you found that you like the most?

[but hey, bathrooms. somehow better to talk about.]
Hot springs? No, I've never been to one. What's so nice about them?
